One month in Broome is over

I have been working as a kitchen-hand around 25-30 hours a week. It is getting warmer and warmer and people get "tropo". This means that some people get crazy because of the immense heat. Because it gets too warm for me (around 37 degrees) I am looking forward moving southwards.

We have spent some time on the surrounding beaches, most of the time at Gantheaume Point. There we could sleep directly at the cliffs and the beach. Last Monday the rangers came out there and woke us up. We pretended not to be there and did not move. We then got a huge notice that our vehicle has been reported. So the rest of the week we stayed at the carport of Jay's flat. Jay is the daughter of Shaun whom Dirk and me met in Caloundra. Jay and her boyfriend Ashley were really nice and offered us to sleep in their living room and to use their shower. But we decided to sleep in the car at their carport. One night we cooked "Kaesspaetzle" for them. It was tasty but a little bit heavy for this warm weather.

On Town Beach I met Juergen, he is a 60 year old German guy who came to Australia in 1982. He was working as a returning boomerang instructur and builded the boomerangs for years. He also taught Aboriginal people how to throw and build them. He now lives in his old Toyota Landcruiser and travels around the country. We have spent heaps of time with him listening to his funny stories. On the photo he is struggling with the famous "waterhose-snake" ;-)!

In Broome you can drive your car on the beach (Cable Beach) so the kombi had the favour to do this for the sunset last Friday night. That was so nice :-)! Today we had breakie on Cable Beach and went for a swim afterwards. I will show Tine this spot as the first thing when she arrives this afternoon. Have just bought some cold beers for that "event"!

Unfortunately Sonja and me had to realise that we cannot go on travelling together :-(! Sonja will now go on travelling with Tim - a mutual friend of us.

Tine will be arriving this afternoon and I try to pick her up from the airport by walking there from town ;-) Possibly I can take a pic of her plane very close. I will show her Broome and then possibly on Wednesday we will start moving southwards and visit the Karajini National Park as a first destination.
